SSC Stenographer exam is taken in two levels, the first level is Grade C and D exam that includes MCQs and is taken online. Those who have cleared this exam will be judged to check their skills further as well, the skill test will be conducted at various different centres across the country.

The students will be given 120 minutes to give the exam.

The next level which includes a couple of skill tests will be given by those candidates only, who have cleared the written examination. Since the skill tests will be of qualifying nature, so the commission will fix the standards in different categories for the individuals who are giving the exam. The aspirants will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/Hindi at a speed of 100 words per minute for the individuals applying for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 words per minute, for Stenographer Grade D post.

The individuals who take Stenography test in Hindi are supposed to learn English Stenography and vice versa for the ones choosing to give the exam in English, have to learn Hindi.

The individuals who are giving SSC stenographer exam needs to prepare three subjects including general intelligence, general awareness and English. These are three important sections which an individual need to be efficient in.

Educational Qualification 

  • The individuals should be at least 12th pass from a recognized Board or University.
  • The individuals applying for Stenographer Grade C exam should be between 18-30 years.
  • The individuals applying for Stenographer Grade D exam should be between 18-27 years.

Note: There is age relaxation of 5 years and 3 years for SC/ST and OBC respectively.
